Review: NYX Matte Finish Fini Mat

If you listened to Episode 6: Drugstore Deals you heard us talk about our new discovery – NYX! I picked this setting spray as a prime pick this week and thought I would post a review of the product for those of you who wanted to hear more about it.

My first setting spray was Urban Decay’s De-Slick. I was so disappointed with this product! I felt like it did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do – it should have been called “mega-slick”. I almost gave up on setting sprays until I saw a review from fellow blogger Beaus and Bows about the NYX spray and decided to give it a try.

I use this product after my foundation and sometimes again after blush and bronzer. I love it! It dries very fast and while it doesn’t make my face completely matte (I don’t think anything besides airbrushing or pressed powder can completely do that) it really does keep my face from becoming “slick”. I even use it mid-day to freshen up. Something about giving your face a little spritz with this stuff just really makes my makeup feel fresh!

This spray costs $7.99 and you can find it at CVS, Ulta, and more!

Have you tried this product? Did you enjoy our episode about Drugstore deals? Leave us a comment and let us know!

Sephora Subscription Service Update

Happy Friday from Rise & Prime!

As we mentioned in Episode 2, Sephora is starting their very own subscription based service. More details were released this week and we are so excited!

The service is called Play! by Sephora and is being tested in three markets: Boston, Columbus, and Cincinnati. Unfortunately, none of the Rise & Prime hosts have been able to make it off the wait list at this point. Each month, Play’s boxes will have a theme and include samples that correspond to the theme (kind of like our podcast but without the free stuff…). The first box boasts an impressive list – sampling products from GlamGlow, Ole Henriksen, Bumble & Bumble, Sephora Brand, and Marc Jacobs. Remember, this is all included in the $10/month subscription. Sounds like a deal to us!

Play starts in September and will be expanding to other cities after the test is complete. Boston friends – will you be signing up? Are you on the wait list already? Let us know in the comments or leave us a comment on instagram @riseandprime
